The ratio of one currency pair to another shows how many currency units one currency is worth.
The currency pair consists of the main and quoted currencies. There are main (major) currency pairs, cross-pairs (currency cross-rates) and exotic currency pairs. The most popular among traders are using pairs of the main group (majors) EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/CHF, USD/JPY, USD/CAD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD.
The cross rate is the exchange rate between currencies, excluding the us dollar. A cross rate is a ratio between two currencies that follows from their rate against the rate of a third currency. Cross rates are calculated through the main exchange rates against the dollar.
